What kind of college financial aid is out there? Before you go out looking for financial aid it is important to understand what money is offered by federal student aid, private organizations, and even individuals. You wouldn't want to miss out on all the money there is.
By the time you finish reading through my content you will have a full understanding of what kind of help is out there. I don't want you to get frustrated by all the terms and words used to describe financial aid for college. It's a lot simpler than you think. The basic concept is to know what college financial aid you have to pay back and which one is given to you for free.
I want to be honest with you when I say that most students get help through federal student loans but I also want you to know that you don't have to be one of those students. I want you to stay away from federal student loans as much as possible. You might be surprised to find out that government grants will cover many of your college costs.
Our generation has been taught that if you want to get anywhere in life you have to borrow and that is a BIG lie. I have a different perspective. I think that if you really care about your future you will do whatever it takes to EARN your education and not just cave in to getting federal student loans.
So what am I trying to say? I'm simply saying that you have to see your education as such an important part of your life that you are willing to work hard enough to pay for college. The average student is graduating with 20 to 40 thousand dollars of debt.
Many times I saw friends of mine sit back and relax and most of the ones that did ended up getting loans. I'm not saying that all people who get loans are lazy but I am saying that if you don't go out of your way to win scholarships and grants you will have to pay for it yourself.
In some cases the parents have to pay but why put another load on them? Your parents have already worked hard. You wouldn't want to load them down simply because you didn't want to work at winning money for college. Either way, it is best to prepare and do all that you can to lighten the burden on them. You would be surprised how grateful they will be to see you take action!
